Telepsychiatry
Telemedicine is the process of providing health care from a distance through technology, often using video conferencing. Telepsychiatry, a subset of telemedicine, can involve providing a range of services including psychiatric evaluations, therapy (individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy), patient education and medication management. This valuable and convenient option is another evaluation format offered by the ROW Psychiatric Services.
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation that is used to treat certain mental health conditions, particularly depression. During a TMS session, an electromagnetic coil is placed against the scalp near the forehead. The coil produces magnetic pulses that stimulate nerve cells in the brain that are involved in mood regulation.
TMS therapy is typically administered as a series of treatments over several weeks, with each session lasting approximately 30 minutes.
