Group Therapy

From early childhood and more

Row Psychiatric Services offers multiple types of group therapy that spread across early childhood through adolescence, as well as an additional group designed to support single mothers. Please read below for more information.

Children’s Social & Emotional Growth Group (Ages 5-9)

This interactive and supportive group therapy program is designed for children ages 5-9 who may benefit from building social skills, emotional regulation, and healthy coping strategies. Through engaging activities, structured play, and guided discussions, children will learn essential skills to navigate friendships, manage big emotions, and develop resilience in a fun and safe environment.

Group Focus Areas:

  • Social Skills Development – Practicing turn-taking, active listening, and effective communication with peers.
  • Emotional Regulation– Learning to recognize, express, and manage feelings in a healthy way.
  • Coping Strategies – Exploring calming techniques, problem-solving, and ways to handle frustration.
  • Confidence & Self-Esteem– Encouraging self-expression, independence, and positive self-talk.
  • Teamwork & Peer Connection – Strengthening friendships through cooperative activities and shared experiences.

This group is ideal for children who may experience difficulty making friends, emotional outbursts, anxiety, or frustration in social situations. This group also provides a supportive space where kids can learn, grow, and build meaningful connections while gaining valuable life skills.

Tween Outpatient Group
(Ages 10-13)

In this outpatient group, the members learn about their own emotions and how they interact with them, as well as how emotions impact their interactions with their outside world (school, family, friends, etc.). Popular topics include anger management, accountability, positive socialization, effective communication, loneliness, and bullying. These topics are explored through open discussion, written exercises, and techniques borrowed from art therapy. The tween group runs on Wednesday evenings each week starting at 4:30 PM.

Teen Therapy Group
(Ages 14-17)

The teen therapy group, ages 14-17, gives teens the opportunity to check-in, share their feelings and thoughts and connect with others who may relate to them. The group facilitator, Amy, aims to provide a safe space for the group members to be their authentic selves, to share what’s going on in their lives, discuss, and provide support and feedback. Amy also dedicates part of the group for psychoeducation, to teach the group members coping skills, to gain a better understanding of mental health symptoms, and other group activities that are therapeutic.

Single Moms Support Group
(No Age Limit)

This weekly group is intended to provide unmarried and single mothers a space to connect with one another, as community resources are sometimes unavailable or just not enough. There are many aspects of motherhood that are difficult enough even when the mother has a spouse which are made even harder when they are facing it on their own and without significant support from others. Aspects like stress or other emotions relating to custody hearings, co-parenting, engaging in self-care, and having an identity separate from being a mom are all topics that will be covered in the group, with the facilitator providing space for the moms to connect with each other and lift each other up. This group runs indefinitely on Wednesday evenings starting at 5:30 PM, and runs virtually. For more information or to get set up to join, please contact us today!
